Feeling Guilty of Sleep?
I’ll sleep when I’m dead
Have you ever been in a position where things are going against you? A phase comes in every person’s lifetime where they are not able to see any future. The predicament of struggle and a bad phase of life doesn’t allow a person to have mental peace. It later creates stress, and human tends to wallow in it, which can end with depression.
On the other side of the coin, people fight back. The persistence of doing things irrespective of getting any result, with the hope that one day things will change. It allows people to change their struggle into a hustle. In a hustle, rest feels like a luxury that you can’t afford. They burn the midnight oil to learn new skills and knowledge.
A significant problem arises for those who lack a mentor. They try to catch the lightning in a bottle. Still, those who don’t give up keep moving forward. They fall but fall forward, fall better. Keep doing things will make a dent in the universe. Who knows black hole might be the example of someone’s determination.
People emphasise the work-life balance. 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of work and 8 hours of family time. Average people do divide their time like that, but few people can follow such a rule. Those who want to achieve big, who want their life to be controlled by themselves. Those who hustle at night to change their days are the ones who feel guilty of sleep. The work-life balance is a distant doctrine to be followed by someone else.
I, too, feel guilty of sleeping. I don’t know, it felt like I didn’t deserve it. Having debt, no proper income source yet, and just working for myself without any result doesn’t allow me to rest. Mind, which should work for me, sometimes goes against me and describes fearful scenarios. From the experience, I can say that the mind is not the place to dwell.
Be a fighter, be a warrior. Don’t give up on your dreams. Having a vision to do things for yourself is seen by a minority of people. There is nothing great about living a comfortable life. Life is uncertain; the more you want it to be certain, the more boring it becomes. Every day, when you hustle for your future life with focus and discipline, God also send his help. Being guilty of sleep is a sign of growth where you have burned all your comfort to achieve something way bigger than rest.
Every great human being who didn’t give up when life hit them back to back also had the same feeling until they won.
Margaret Thatcher, former UK Prime Minister, reportedly said: “Sleep is for wimps.”
