THE SILENT PATIENT Review- What do you expect from a thriller? A gripping story, an unpredictable list of characters or the plot which will twist the very meaning of your understanding.
THE SILENT PATIENT by Alex Michaelides released in 2019 made it to the most famous new york time best seller and held the position for over a year, incredible fact is this particular book was his very first book with more than 1 lakh reviews on Amazon and 1.1 million reviews on Goodreads.
A gruesome murder by a well-renowned artist Alicia of her husband made quick headlines in the national newspapers and how he shot 5 bullets straight in the heart of the man she loved the most.
Theo was a psychotherapist who wanted a well-written story to be told for his book and wanted to treat the most famous case of the year “Alicia” to find the truth and to treat her in his own way.
The only problem lies in front of Theo is Alicia is silent after she killed her husband and the entire committee of the clinic where is being treated for years has given up on her a long time ago, but Theo thinks that he can make her talk and can too dig the truth out.
With his own life running through betrayal and dishonesty Theo tries to balance it out but finds how close he and Alicia are connected not just by a patient-doctor relationship but also by the past traumas, present betrayals and future connections of their faiths.
With the deep meaning of ancient Greek mythology and the story of the ancient Greek god Alcentis who refused to speak after the resurrection from her death inspired Alicia to paint her most deep painting.
The story follows the hidden desire of a human after being struck by a thought of betrayal in childhood which leaves them traumatized for the rest of their lives and suddenly when that thought comes out in the play after being hidden for years it becomes a monstrous face which leads a human to act according to the particular trauma.
A diary Reveals all the little details of the trail which led to that murder but it was over just a few days before the murder which hangs the truth and identity of the person who might be involved in this crime.
The story is mostly written from the perspective of a psychologist and an artist who convey a deeper meaning of their own fields. Alicia wanted to paint her husband in the form of Jesus Christ trying to pour her thoughts through the brush strokes on the canvas.
The silent patient will hold the hand of the reader and will take him to the path of thriller and psychology while giving him the knocks of thriller in the middle until they reach the point where the cliffhanger is so deep that the whole story will splash in front and answers of the murder will scramble in front of him like a surprise.
